Stories of Time

Stories of Time
They tell you tales of long ago,
When you are young, you lean in close,
Attentive ears, eager heart,
Wanting more, never wanting to part.
But years rush in, life grows loud,
No time for stories, lost in the crowd.
You think those words are worn and old,
Not worth the silver, not worth the gold.
Then age arrives, its quiet hand,
And you begin to understand.
You long to share, to pass along,
The stories that once felt too long.
Time does not wait, it does not bend,
It moves straight forward, without amend.
Yet life’s strange circle brings you near,
To the same old tales you once would not hear.
Quote
Time has no reverse, yet its stories return — what we ignore in youth becomes the wisdom we yearn.
