The Turning

The Turning

They called it 10% but it weighed a ton

A quiet block in the blood, a race not yet run

I traded fried noise for callaloo green

For walks at dawn where the savannah’s seen

Lies may dine at tables where I’m the feast

But truth sits with me, and my peace increased

Each small step, a habit, a disciplined breath

Is how you answer the rumor of death

So let them whisper. I’m busy with living

Building this body, this art, this forgiving

Setbacks aren’t endings, they’re pivots, they’re proof

That the higher you rise, the deeper the root.

Quote:

A setback is just life asking you to set up differently.
